The screenwriting PROBLEM in a nutshell:
YOU are focused on your screenplay, but the
PRODUCER is focused on the film.

The truth is, almost all screenwriting educational material is either written and taught by WRITERS... or written and taught by ACADEMICS. 

The problem is: Most WRITERS teach you "their" way of doing things — either what they've been taught, or what worked for them (...sometimes decades ago)... And most ACADEMICS either teach: a) what they've been taught how to teach... or b) the formulas they've created by looking for PATTERNS in existing stories and movies (!).

But that makes no sense!

You can't create an ORIGINAL, compelling, next-level story by COPYING or EMULATING what was successful in the past. You can't mimic your way to originality! Producers know the formulas. We've seen those stories. ...Audiences aren't interested.

And it's WHY the nearly 7,000 screenplays I've personally read (!) were mostly derivative... predictable... unusable. They just needed too much WORK to make them viable. Work indie producers like me have no way to pay for!

Which meant that if I ever wanted to make my studio a reality... I had to DO something.

Over the next five years, I ran that in-person workshop over 80 times... to over 1200 participants... in 10 cities... in 6 countries.

But after a few years... I burned out.

It turns out... there's a REASON
producers don't teach screenwriting:
They're too busy PRODUCING.

My goal was to produce films — lots of them! — but I was spending so much time teaching screenwriting that I wasn't PRODUCING anything at all!

At one point, I had flown around Australia every other weekend for a year(!) — meeting hundreds of enthusiastic writers — always wondering WHO would follow through, write a project, and reach out to me. (I would've made films with ANY of them!)

But when I finally did the math, I discovered that fewer than 10% of them took ANY action at all. It was mind-boggling. A golden opportunity completely ignored.

So I stopped running the workshop and started looking for OTHER ways to find writers and develop projects.

...and THAT'S when it suddenly clicked for me:

The REASON so few SCREENWRITERS succeed is that they don't understand WHAT producers need — but they can't LEARN what we need because producers can't spend the TIME it takes to TEACH writers in enough DETAIL to make a difference!

So, NOW... cut to:

There is now UNLIMITED global opportunity...
and yet we still have the same basic problem.

I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that TODAY — right now! — the opportunity for filmmakers and screenwriters is literally infinite.
